Bodyneed is a small New Zealand owned company started way back in 2001.
Where it all began 2001 - The first home - Wellesley St, City
2nd floor tiny room where Karen could just make it around the bed to massage clients.

Yes - It started with just one person – Karen Finlayson – an intrepid post graduate from the New Zealand College of Massage in Newmarket.
Karen said: 'I had a dream to create a space for massage therapists to flourish and for the public to get the best possible care in a great positive enviroment.'

Bodyneed Ponsonby now includes Physiotherapy and Clinical Pilates along with our top level Massage and consists of a team of 20 practitioners!
The journey to this point has been long and at times really hard - but there is nothing like sheer passion and resolve to get you through the hard times!

Bodyneed 2003 - the 2nd home - 33 Sales Street, Freemans Bay
A tiny 1st floor room on the right that consisted of two windows, shelves, bed and a very noisy old computer.

Bodyneed began with a desire to create something different to what you usually come across in New Zealand's health sector.  A health clinic that looked great, felt great and provided the best level of actual treatment.  I was so sick of medical / health clinics that have no regard for good customer service, and no care about the surroundings.  Good results are not dependant on a beautiful setting but it sure helps!  Why should a place that looks good be the domain of 'spas'.  It is time New Zealand caught up with the rest of the world and started treating our health care as a service.  Great results are enhanced by great service as happy clients, patients or customers will always heal faster!

For the first few years bodyneed was really just me - Karen contracting to other massage companies, working on customer services at Vodafone and struggling to pay the rent.

The move to Vernon Street in 2003 meant taking on board my more therapists and having complete control over where bodyneed was heading.
We could really develop our philosophy of great service and a standard of massage that surpassed much of what was on offer.
We set about creating somewhere people knew that no matter who you saw your treatment was going to be great.

1st & 2nd floor of this 3 bedroom town house and the first time we actually had to employ more therapists!

Bodyneed 2008 - The New Home - 27 Crummer Road, Ponsonby.
Where we have 7 rooms, 10 massage therapists and 4 physiotherapist.

Karen says: As a massage practitioner I was often referring clients to physiotherapy and pilates to complete their treatment.  There is only so much massage can deal with and we made many friends with our strong referral networks.  A couple of those friends decided to join us when we moved to Crummer Road - the place was perfect for an amalgamation of Massage and Physiotherapy - and a new approach of complete, cohesive care was born!

Now we feel we offer a complete package of musculoskeletal care, from injury recovery to rehabilitation to ongoing maintenance.  Physio to Pilates to Massage.

Bodyneed is re-shaping the health industry in New Zealand to give people the real service and the real results that they deserve - we love what we do, we love to help you - our team at bodyneed is one that inspires me everyday.  If you have not been to us before I encourage you to come in and experience it for yourself!
