Karen Finlayson - Sports Therapist, Pilates Trainer

Karen Finlayson Dip.TM (Sports), BA
Specialist areas: Headaches and Migraines, Sports Massage, Pilates Training

10 years ago when I started on my journey of wellbeing via massage - I never realised that I would still be as fascinated and intrigued today as I was when I started.  The human body never ceases to amaze me - how incredibly adaptable it is, the amazing feats of athleticism and endurance we can put ourselves through and I am constantly in awe of what our clients get up to.  The building of both my own practice and this company as a whole has been a hugely rewarding journey and one I hope to continue for many years to come.
If I am not at bodyneed you will find me hanging with my hubby and friends, mountain biking or running (preferably off road) and currently being a bit mad about pilates!

Lisa Wade - Sports Therapist, Remedial, Pilates Trainer

Lisa Wade Dip.TM (Sports)
Specialist areas - Remedial & Sports Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Shoulder injuries (frozen shoulder, instability issues), Pilates Training

I have enjoyed an active life working in many diverse roles from dairy farming to corporate to professional yachtswoman. I have spent most of my life pushing my physical and mental barriers and have relied on the skills and expertise of many great therapists to keep me going...this is where my passion for soft tissue therapy began, on the table.
I believe that these therapies can really enhance a person's quality of life deepen and grow.
I love to stay active with regular pilates and I am a keen runner (training for AK marathon this year) and mountain bike when I can!

Ross Thomson - Sports Therapist, Remedial

ross thomson.jpg Dip.TM (Sports), Registered Massage Therapist (RMT-MNZ)
Specialist areas: Headaches and Migraines, Sports Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue Therapy

My early work career spanned a range of engineering disciplines where stress & fatigue were often 'part of the job'. Through these times, I became passionate about promoting a more healthy approach to work/life.
Having qualified in 2003 at the NZCM as a massage therapist I am more convinced that the key to a healthy work life is achieved through a much more holistic approach. Part of this approach includes regular massage.
I really enjoy pilates and the great New Zealand outdoors - being a keen hiker too!

Shelley Bickerton - Sports Therapist, Remedial

Shelley Dip.TM
Specialist areas: TMJ, Jaw and Neck, Sports Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue Therapy

I got into massage as I have always wanted to help facilitate positive changes in people through touch.
So when I found out about massage and the difference it could make to peoples lives/mind/bodies, I was immediately hooked - and have been ever since.
I am enjoying the challenges from each client I am treating here at Bodyneed and loving the positive results I am creating.
I love to stay active with pilates (both as a student and client) and am a keen walker and beach goer!

Sorrel Renton-Green - Remedial Therapist and Reflexology

Dip.TM (UK), Registered Massage Therapist (RMT - MNZ), Reflexology, Reiki
Specialist Areas: Headaches and Migraines, Neck and shoulders, stress relief and reflexology

I have always had an interest in natural health modalites and after several years in the corporate world, I was fortunate to train as a massage therapist in London. My massage approach is a combination of remedial and relaxation techniques with an awareness of the 'whole' person which gets amazing results. What I enjoy most is helping my clients find greater comfort and ease of movement, as well as educating them on body awareness.
When I am not working I am happiest communing with nature in my garden or relaxing at the beach.

Anna Barton - Sports Therapist, Remedial

Dip.TM
Specialist areas: Headaches and Migraines, Sports Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue Therapy

I have lived a full and well travelled life so far. I have learnt through experiences the importance of well-being and balance to live longer and freer. Having struggled with various types of back pain, I made a healthy decision for a career and lifestyle change to improve the quality of life, learn more about our amazing bodies and to help others realise their greatness.
Massage does wonders for the body, increases blood flow, eases tension and much much more.
In my spare time I enjoy yoga, pilates, walking and being with my friends.

Kate Johnstone  - Sports Therapist

B.Ed (Physical Education), Dip. Massage Therapy, Advanced Sports Massage Certificate

I have been practicing Massage Therapy since 2006 and have a keen interest in sports massage.  I began work as a massage therapist in Christchurch, before moving to London for some exploring around Europe where I was lucky enough to keep up my massaging skills.  I have worked with two Super 14 rugby teams as well as recreational fitness enthusiasts and I love seeing the positive results massage therapy brings.
I enjoy running, working out at the gym, waterskiing and have played a number of team sports.

Pilates Trainers

Jane Evans - Pilates Trainer, Endurance Athletes

BA (Hons)Performing Arts, Mat Cert. Body Control Pilates, UK, Studio Cert.(Polestar)
Specialist Areas: Runners, Triathletes, Endurance Athletes, Postural Rehab

I first came across pilates as a ‘dancers' secret' whilst I was at university in London on a performing arts degree. As a theatre director for next 15 years, I found it an essential tool in the rehearsal room with actors, dancers, musicians and singers, helping them to focus on performance. Since moving to New Zealand I have worked in Auckland and Taupo with many sports focussed clients.
To stay active I love running and resistance training - I have two children, and a bicycle trailer/running buggy - pulling or pushing 50kgs is a great workout!

Aleksandra Davis - Evening Reception

Hi my name is Aleksandra Davis and I work as the daytime receptionist here at Bodyneed.
I come from Poland and have married and settle here in New Zealand. Before emigrating to New Zealand I was a representative swimmer and have competed throughout Europe and The United States.
From my experience I know that maintaining the body correctly is equal to the training that must go into a total commitment to any sport.
I am currently studying Psychology at AU and am hoping to work as a neuropsychologist in the furture.
In my spare time I enjoy travelling, reading and, of course........swimming.
I'm looking forward to meeting you soon.

Chris Hammer - Operations Manager/Marketing Plus Reception Cover

B.A (UK)
I have had many managerial positions ranging from retail to hospitality, entertainment to large corporate organisations in New Zealand and Europe. This role within Bodyneed is mainly ‘behind the scenes' and making sure everything runs as smooth as possible.
I mainly look after promotions/marketing, design, website management, reception cover, clinic maintenance and communications.
I love it when people leave Bodyneed happy and enjoying life again, nothing can beat that satisfaction.
In my spare time I watch Premiership football (and The Phoenix), run/walk alot, mountain bike, love music and am a DJ for Radio Ponsonby and around various bars in Auckland
